MIIT hands out eight new MVNO licences

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued a fourth batch of mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) licences, allocating concessions to eight companies and bringing the total number ofMVNO licensees to 333, C114 reports. Video sharing site Youku Tudou was one of the highest-profile companies to receive a licence, whilst other licensees included: clothing manufacturers Hongdou Group; TV and radio broadcasting firm Shenzhen Media Group; electronics retailer Qingdao Gooday Network Technology (Haier); communications and software providers Beijing ChannelSoft Technology and 263 Network Communications; smartphone manufacturer Beijing Xiaomi Technology; and Zhengzhou Xunjie Trade.
